Winter Program

Unlimited winter programs for rowers

Winter Program

We know it’s frustrating when you can’t row over the winter, which is why we’re happy to announce that we’ll be running our own winter training program this year! This program will have erg (rowing machine) and strength training components, and will provide each rower with an appropriate challenge for their level while training together and getting fit.

Overview

  • Erg training (indoors) 3 times per week

  • Strength training focused on rowing (outdoors) 1 time per week

  • Suitable for beginners and experienced rowers

  • Improve your technique and physique

  • Train under professional supervision

  • Compete at indoor races

  • Focus on technique and injury prevention

  • Get fit in a fun group

The erg program will keep you in rowing shape through the winter with focused workouts designed to help you continually improve. We’ll mix up the workouts to provide a combination of speed, power and endurance; experienced coaches will keep track of your progress over the winter and give you feedback on your rowing technique so you’re ready to go when spring comes. Plus, working out with a team is so much more fun than erging alone! Competing at indoor rowing races is an option but is not required.

Strength training has become an important part of high level rowing and can improve performance on the erg and on the water, in addition to being great for injury prevention. The strength portion of the program is designed to be accessible to all experience levels, and we recommend that people participate in both the erging and strength sessions to progress more quickly.

The erg program will be Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning and is located at the Peter Jay Sharp Boathouse in upper Manhattan, while the strength training will take place at Central Park and Riverside Park every Wednesday morning and evening, respectively. You’ll get an email with all the details when you register.
